In this video: TxTag customers have until this Friday to make any changes to their accounts before a so-called 'blackout period' starts, ahead of account management changes. Traffic may improve, somewhat, now that a pair of flyover ramps have opened near Houston; bridge maintenance continues to leave commuter traffic snarled in the greater Philadelphia area; Manhattan's congestion pricing plan could be returning, and there's a brazen new twist with that long-running toll smishing scheme.
Full description: TxTag customers have until this Friday to verify or update any information in their accounts before TxTag implements a so-called 'blackout period', which will precede a transfer of account management operations to the Harris County Toll Road Authority. Meanwhile, a pair of new flyover ramps augur potential traffic relief for those transitioning from the Westpark Tollway to the Grand Parkway. 15-minute bridge closures will impact commuters and traffic crossing the Commodore Barry Bridge in the greater Philadelphia area, while work continues on other DRPA bridges, resulting in lane closures on the Betsy Ross, Ben Franklin and Walt Whitman bridges. A smishing scheme is now targeting users overseas, claiming drivers owe tolls for a free bridge that just opened northeast of London. Congestion toll pricing may be back on the table as the New York governor announces a decision is pending. Danny Pryor reports for Turnpikes.com.
