TxTag is the transponder issued by the state of Texas. However, management of TxTag accounts will soon be under the auspices of the Harris County Toll Road Authority, or HCTRA.
TxTag may be used on all toll roads in Texas. It is also interoperable in Oklahoma and Kansas.
EZ-Tag is issued by the Harris County Toll Road Authority for Houston-area toll roads, as well as toll roads in surrounding counties, including Montgomery and Fort Bend. It is also compatible with toll roads, tunnels and bridges across Texas. However, EZ-Tag is not yet compatible outside the Lone Star State.
TollTag is issued by the North Texas Tollway Authority, and it was originally designed for use by local drivers and commuters using the toll roads of the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
TollTag, which is spelled as a single word, should not be confused with Louisiana's Toll Tag, which is issued by the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway.
The NTTA TollTag is interoperable with all of Texas' toll roads, as well as systems across Oklahoma, Kansas and, more recently, Florida and Colorado.
